The 2X46 Foundry Machine Repair position is part of a trainee program designed to facilitate the development of the Maintenance skilled trades workforce within the Mapleton Foundry. The position allows employees to gain the knowledge and skills required to become a 6E10 Foundry Machine Repair Mechanic. A 36-month On-The-Job Learning (OJL) and Work Based Learning Program with college courses at Illinois Central College is required to graduate. Tuition, fees, and books are all covered expenses. The curriculum of this course includes shop experience in all foundry maintenance trade functions, excluding electronic and complex electrical functions. Progression and compensation while in this training program are based upon successful demonstration of competency in performing foundry maintenance functions.

Machine Power Transmission
Print Reading
Machine Tool Operation
Hydraulic System Repair
Industrial Rigging and Hoist/Lift Operations
Basic CNC Functions
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge and/or willingness to learn new skills
Good time management and analytical skills
Successfully pass a 2-hour skills exam upon graduation
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Previous Maintenance Experience
Welding Experience
Machine Shop Experience
Physical Requirement:
Be able to work near high voltage electricity, molten metal, heavy equipment, various gases, moving machinery, high above the floor and in congested or confined areas.
Ability to stand throughout an 8 to 12-hour shift.

College Degree. You will earn 60 credit hours and graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science while attending ICC in the Industrial Maintenance Technology Program. Each school day will be a paid 8-hour day for scheduled classes and study time. Non-school days will be spent in the Mapleton Foundry to complete OJT tasks.
