The Foundry Manufacturing Engineer leads the development and optimization of foundry manufacturing process to improve product quality, cost efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
Responsibilities
The role will be a Foundry Manufacturing Engineer at the Mapleton Foundry, which includes:
- Direct operations day-to-day process support of the molding line and post pouring operations
- Continuous process improvement projects including process-related scrap and rework reduction
- Support operations continuous improvement (CI cards) to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost and quality commitments
- The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates with others
- The position is challenged to quickly identify and utilize 6 sigma problem solving methodology resolving problems
Degree Requirement
Degree in engineering desired or equivalent work experience
Skills you must have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Working knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Engineering - MFG: Working knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Lean Manufacturing: Working knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Manufacturing Processes: Working knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Problem Solving: Working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Project Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
**Top Candidates Will Have: **
- Foundry process experience related to molding, core make, melting/holding furnaces, iron pouring, and/or casting cleaning
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Six Sigma green belt certification

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
