Fp&a Manager, R&d & G&a

Vercel Vercel · Enterprise · San Francisco, CA · Finance

FP&A Manager role focused on financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for R&D and G&A organizations, driving financial discipline and operational efficiency in headcount and vendor spend. Requires experience with AI tools for automation and insight generation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the R&D + G&A spend envelope (OpEx + headcount) across Engineering, Product, Design, Data, and G&A functions, setting clear spend and hiring guardrails and providing early visibility into risks and tradeoffs.
  2. Run planning and forecasting for your areas, including annual planning, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly updates with clear assumptions and variance narratives.
  3. Lead workforce planning with bottoms-up headcount models and a dollar-based resource envelope, partnering with People/Talent and functional leaders to sequence hiring against roadmap, compliance, and operational scale, and coordinating with Strategic Finance where company-level narratives, long-range parameters, or cross-functional investment decisions require tight alignment.
  4. Partner with Procurement to manage internal tooling and SaaS spend and drive cost optimization, including a tracked pipeline for renewals, vendor rationalization, and efficiency opportunities.
  5. Lead monthly BvA reviews and a decision-making cadence, improving reporting and accrual accuracy and streamlining controls through automation (flag exceptions, reduce manual review).
