Functional Safety Manager

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Austin, TX · Engineering

Manage functional safety for AMD products, focusing on automotive and industrial markets. Develop and execute safety strategy aligned with ISO 26262, lead cross-functional teams, ensure ASIL compliance, and own safety cases for production readiness.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and drive AMD’s functional safety strategy aligned with ISO 26262, including defining safety plans and leading end-to-end execution across CPUs, GPUs, SoCs, and custom IP. Oversee core safety activities (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA), ensure ASIL compliance, implement safety mechanisms, and maintain full traceability from system requirements through validation.
  2. Partner across hardware, firmware, and software teams—as well as business units, suppliers, and customers—to embed safety into product roadmaps, align development efforts, and manage external interfaces (e.g., DIAs).
  3. Establish and continuously improve functional safety processes, lead audits and assessments, and own the development of safety cases and required work products to ensure compliance and production readiness.
  4. Build and mentor functional safety capabilities across teams, promote a safety-first culture, and take full accountability for delivering safety-compliant SoCs and systems, including direct engagement with customers during audits and reviews.
