Future Operational Planner (fops)

This role is for a Future Operational Planner (FOPS) within Deloitte's AI & Engineering team, focusing on transforming technology platforms and driving innovation for clients, particularly in the government and public services sector. The role involves applying planning processes, leading operational planning teams, and providing expertise in force management. While part of an AI & Engineering team, the core responsibilities are centered around operational planning and process reengineering, not direct AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Apply expert knowledge of the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP) or equivalent structured planning processes in both Service and Joint operational environments.
  2. Lead Operational Planning Teams (OPTs) in deliberate, crisis action, and contingency planning.
  3. Provide expertise in force management processes, including force sourcing, allocation, and apportionment.
  4. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of organizational capabilities, force structure, and limitations in operational planning and force employment.
  5. Support Crisis Action Planning Teams (CAPTs) and facilitate the transition from deliberate planning to executable crisis/contingency orders.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 6+ years' experience in planning, operational analysis, or a similar function.
  • 1+ years' experience using planning processes in support of organizational strategic or operational objectives.
  • 1+ years' experience in developing operational plans, drafting orders, and supporting coordination for across teams or departments.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance required

Nice to have

  • Master's degree
  • 3+ years' experience supporting planning efforts for joint, combined, or multi-organizational environments.
  • 3+ years' experience in operational art/design concepts and the ability to frame complex planning efforts for competition, crisis, and contingency scenarios.
  • 3+ years' experience in developing or integrating new operational capabilities (e.g., cyber, exercise planning).
  • 3+ years' experience supporting contingency, crisis action, or training exercise planning efforts.
  • 3+ years' experience in deliver analytic recommendations, reports, and executive-level briefings.
