This role is for a Global Datacenter Engineering Lease Electrical Director at Microsoft, responsible for managing electrical and EPMS infrastructure requirements for leased datacenter capacity. The position involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, developing lease standards, and overseeing projects and process improvements within the Datacenter Engineering team.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serves as an expert in root cause analysis to help engineering teams identify highly complex problems. Identifies possible solutions to novel and complex problems across the lease portfolio.
  2. Advises others on key details to review when evaluating leased facilities. Provides technical input on contracts.
  3. Coordinates engineering system design decisions with internal and external stakeholders to account for platform-specific technology decisions
  4. Provides recommendations to organization leadership for difficult or complex decisions across leased porfolio based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration.
  5. Acts as an expert resource to others on matters related to industry trends and advances in electrical engineering. Shares and acquires expert knowledge of deep technical areas or across multiple domains within their team and across teams.

Skills

Required

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent experience
  • Datacenter Electrical/EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) infrastructure experience

Nice to have

  • Registered/Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE or equivalent)
  • Inherent Availability, RAM Study Training and Development Experience
  • Leased Datacenter Experience
  • Experience and ability to influence without authority across engineering teams.
  • Experience leading critical engineering initiatives that span multiple teams, which often have conflicting priorities and schedules.
