Global Trade Controls Specialist - Millennium Space Systems

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with export and import regulations for a defense contractor, involving classification of products, supplier reviews, and process improvements. It requires knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Process Supplier requests, Denied Party Screenings (DPS), Visitor Approvals and Technical Data Reviews
  2. Conduct Jurisdiction, Product Classification and HTS/Schedule B for products, software, and related Technology
  3. Consult with internal and external business partners to ensure the smooth and compliant handling of all aspects of the company's international efforts
  4. Communicate procedural changes via email, through training and other communication vehicles
  5. Develops and conducts audits of internal controls and procedures by examining artifacts to ensure compliant transactions

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ related work experience (e.g. export and import controls, supplier reviews, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and phone etiquette
  • Able to work within a team and foster teamwork and trust from both external and internal customers
  • Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certification
  • Background in import / export regulations, compliance, classifications, licensing and exemptions, commodity jurisdiction requests and Technology Control Plans
  • A technical background for jurisdiction and classifications in hardware, software, and Technology
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a time sensitive environment
  • Role requires ability to work across multiple functional departments / organizations
