Gnc Engineer: Performance Analysis (gpi Program) – Level 3 or 4 (chandler)

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Chandler, AZ +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

Northrop Grumman is seeking a GNC Engineer to design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools for guidance, navigation, and control of various platforms. The role involves statistical processing of sensor data, formulating equations for trajectory control, developing control laws, and conducting rigorous testing and documentation. Requires proficiency in C++, MATLAB, and Python, with a focus on performance analysis and adherence to aerospace software standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools that enable guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) for aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles, and upper stages throughout all mission phases (powered ascent, coast, flight, Earth orbit, interplanetary cruise, orbital insertion, and staging events).
  2. Perform statistical processing of measured sensor data and integrate the results into algorithms that simulate physical reality for navigation functions.
  3. Formulate and implement the equations required to achieve specific positions, orientations, or orbital trajectories as part of the guidance function.
  4. Develop control laws and define hardware and software requirements for control‑design and analysis of aircraft, launch vehicles, and spacecraft.
  5. Conduct comprehensive verification and testing, including unit, integration, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL), and flight‑representative simulations, to ensure compliance with mission performance and safety standards.
