Government Affairs and Public Policy Analyst

This role is part of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, focusing on engaging with government and stakeholders on public policy challenges related to technology. The analyst will advocate for Google's perspective, develop engagement strategies, and coordinate policy activities across different regions and functions. While the role involves understanding the EU's regulatory landscape for AI, its core function is public policy and government affairs, not direct AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinate and facilitate relevant policy activities between the Brussels team and Google's wider network of policy teams across EU countries and global functions on key tests.
  2. Monitor, coordinate and lead relevant policy activities with the various Google policy teams located in a number of EU countries as well as with the global teams on key policy challenges.
  3. Develop and implement engagement strategies with the EU institutions, industry and third-party stakeholders on various policy areas, from regulatory to reputational and executive outreach affecting industry.
  4. Support the development and implementation of engagement strategies with EU institutions, industry partners, and third-party stakeholders across various policy areas.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience working in communications, political campaigns, or within government
  • 2 years of experience working within think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field
  • Experience working for an EU Institution, National Permanent Representation, trade association, or relevant technology consultancy in Brussels
  • Familiarity with the EU's regulatory landscape for Artificial Intelligence (AI), data governance, or competition economics
  • Ability to navigate policy and cultural dynamics of key EU member state delegations, with existing experience engaging these stakeholders
