Designs, develops, and builds custom digital circuits for a CPU, including memory and caches. This involves floorplanning, schematic entry, simulation, and verification to optimize for power, performance, area, timing, and yield. The role also includes creating DFT models, developing memory test tools, and collaborating cross-functionally to resolve design issues. Familiarity with EDA tools and advanced CMOS technology is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs, develops, and builds custom digital circuits for a CPU, including memory and caches.
  2. Designs floorplans, performs circuit design, schematic entry, simulation for CPU blocks, and verifies functionality to optimize custom circuit for CPU power, performance, area, timing, and yield goals.
  3. Creates block level DFT models, develops memory test tools, and improves and automates flows and methodologies to ensure streamlining of design.
  4. Collaborates cross functionally to report design progress and to collect, track, and resolve any performance and CPU design issues.
  5. Optimizes performance, power, and area, reduce leakage of CPU circuits, and drives characterization of individual memory instances and memory compilers.

Skills

Required

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related areas
  • Familiar with industrial EDA tools
  • Familiar with advanced CMOS technology and understanding of physical layout techniques

  • Solid knowledge in circuit simulator
