What you'd actually do

  1. Determine customer needs and develop approaches, implementations, components, interfaces, identify standards and constraints, civil requirements, and security needs
  2. Survey the industry for awareness of customer needs and alternative systems
  3. Lead trade studies, technology development, and subcontractor teams
  4. Lead technical and cost proposals
  5. Write white papers describing offerings and provide leadership and/or direction to software integration, test leads, and various engineering teams

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience
  • experience working with aerospace Ground System architectures
  • minimum of 6 years of experience in hardware design, hardware architecture, or systems engineering roles
  • demonstrated experience creating and maintaining, and releasing engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and product definition documentation
  • experience with configuration management and engineering change processes, including document revision control and release workflows
  • proven ability to develop and maintain architecture documentation, including system-level diagrams, interface definitions, and technical baselines
  • experience using PLM/PDM systems for drawing management, document control, and product release activities
  • strong understanding of product lifecycle management, configuration control, and design documentation best practices
  • ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams to ensure accurate product definition and release
  • ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time

  • Knowledge of, or experience with, common ground approaches, implementations, components, standards, interfaces, constraints, and security needs
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, processes, software and hardware integration
  • Experience with tools such as CAD, ECAD, PLM, and ERP systems supporting product release and lifecycle management
