Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (lead or Senior)

Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · Ridley Park, PA

Boeing is seeking a Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (Lead or Senior) to join the Flying Qualities and Autonomy Technology Group. The role involves leading a team to design new and modified rotorcraft from a stability, flight control, and handling qualities perspective, supporting the design of flight control systems and analyzing air vehicle stability and control characteristics. Responsibilities include leading flight control law design, developing physics-based simulation models, and collaborating with various engineering disciplines and test pilots. Experience with Matlab/Simulink and aircraft stability and control is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Ability to lead a team of high performing engineers, including coordination with program leadership, ability to establish and meet technical, quality and efficiency metrics, and focus on development of teammates in the key Flying Qualities skill areas
  2. Ability to lead and contribute to flight control law design efforts involving application of control theory to achieve desired characteristics for dynamic control response, gust or disturbance rejection, system failure robustness, and loads considerations.
  3. Ability to lead and contribute to development and validation of physics-based linear flight simulation models that include mathematical models of various rotorcraft components (main rotor, tail rotor, fuselage) and participate in wind-tunnel/flight testing to support model validation
  4. Ability to lead and contribute to design of new and modified rotorcraft configurations from a stability, control, and handling qualities perspective.
  5. Ability to lead and contribute to wind tunnel testing, pilot-in-the-loop flight simulation, hardware in the loop laboratory testing, and flight testing in support of vehicle design and analysis.
