Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA

Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) Engineer responsible for the GNC subsystem for a satellite program, including analysis, software development, and component selection. Requires technical leadership and project management skills, with a focus on delivering the subsystem within program constraints. Must be eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deliver the GNC subsystem (hardware, software, and analysis) for a satellite program
  2. Perform GNC subsystem design, analysis, software development, and component selection to meet program requirements
  3. Manage the development of GNC products within the constraints of program cost and schedule
  4. Report technical execution progress to program and company leadership, and track/mitigate risk
  5. Interface with other satellite subsystems as well as systems engineering and program management to ensure system-level performance
  6. Technical leadership of a team of GNC engineers in support of a program, including decomposition and delegation of tasks

Skills

  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Strong GNC fundamentals and spacecraft system level knowledge
  • Ability to perform complex GNC system analyses of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems using existing and/or self-developed tools
  • Ability to decompose large/complex/nebulous tasks into clearly defined subsets of work that can be done personally or delegated to other members of the team
  • Ability to lead a small team of GNC engineers and collaborate with other subsystem engineers and program leadership
  • Ability to support activities (e.g. integration and test, mission operations) during off-nominal hours when required
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
