Johnson & Johnson Johnson & Johnson · Pharma · Santa Clara, CA +1

This role is for a Hardware Engineering Manager in the Robotics R&D group, focusing on designing and building advanced medical robotic platforms. The manager will lead the architecture, development, and execution of robotic mechanical subsystems, manage a team of engineers, and contribute hands-on to designs involving actuators, structures, and sensors. The role requires experience in mechatronics, FEA, GD&T, and familiarity with medical device regulations, with a focus on bringing commercial-ready designs to market.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the design, development, and delivery of robotic capital hardware for surgical environments.
  2. Manage and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, supporting growth and execution.
  3. Contribute hands-on to subsystem design, including actuators, structures, and sensors.
  4. Drive rapid prototyping and transition to commercial-ready designs.
  5. Provide technical guidance on feasibility, test strategies, and product direction.
