Hardware-in-the-loop (hil) Electrical/electronic Engineer

Ford Ford · Auto · Dearborn, MI +1 · PD Operations and Quality

This role is for a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Electrical/Electronics Engineer at Ford Motor Company. The engineer will design and develop battery HIL simulator hardware functions, requirements, schematics, and layouts, conduct failure mode analysis, coordinate electronic/EMC development, and perform design verification testing. Responsibilities include designing data sampling/filter circuits, instrumentation circuits, Opamp/logic gate/MOSFET driver circuits, implementing microcontrollers, and developing controller networking architectures and hardware. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in specific design and testing skills using tools like JIRA, JAMA, Altium Designer, LTSpice, Oscilloscopes, CANoe, and Wireshark.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and develop battery HIL simulator hardware functions, requirements, schematics, and layouts by working with BMS Controls/Software Engineers, Vehicle System Engineers, and battery HIL Software Engineers.
  2. Conduct failure mode analysis of the various hardware components and failure mode management strategies.
  3. Coordinate with electronic/EMC specialists and complete development and validation of the electronic circuit development.
  4. Coordinate and conduct design verification testing at the electronics and battery HIL testbed level.
  5. Develop isolation detection topologies, strategies, and processing.
