Hardware Integration Engineer

This role focuses on hardware integration engineering for vehicle systems at Ford, including engines, transmissions, and batteries. The engineer will drive functional issue resolution between various engineering teams, manage system cost, and report program status. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 3-5+ years of experience with specific vehicle systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive functional issue resolution between functional engineering teams. (Exterior Systems & Structures, IPSE, EE Hardware and Underbody Systems, etc.) to support program milestones.
  2. Drive cross-functional issue resolution (program, finance, quality, attribute, manufacturing, STA, suppliers, etc.) to support program milestones.
  3. Drive system design efficiency, finding solutions to reduce complexity, vehicle cost and/or vehicle weight.
  4. Manage system cost status with D&R / finance teams by reviewing engineering analysis of design changes, ensuring efficient vehicle solution is being brought forward to program.
  5. Report in a weekly basis program status and progress to leadership team.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 3- 5+ years’ of experience with one or more of the following systems: Dressed Engine, Transmission, Transfer Case, Cooling Hoses & Bottles, Low Pressure Air Induction, High Pressure Air Induction, eDrive, Traction Battery, and HV Modules.

Nice to have

  • Design and Release Engineering or Vehicle Engineering experience
  • Strong fundamentals and working knowledge of GPDS engineering milestones & GPDS process.
  • Experience in the Cost Setting Process and Functional Led Cost/Appearance Delivery Process.
