Hardware Reliability Engineer – Ecosystem

Apple Apple · Big Tech · Cupertino, CA · Hardware

This role focuses on ensuring the durability and reliability of Apple's hardware products, specifically iPad accessories and input devices. The engineer will develop and implement reliability tests, quantify risks, support failure analysis, and advise on corrective actions, working closely with cross-functional teams from concept to mass production. The role involves rigorous justification of tests based on user behaviors and field stresses, and driving failure analysis to determine root causes and recommend mitigations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Developing new reliability tests procedures and specifications
  2. Preparing concise and detailed test plans and analyzing test reports
  3. Statistically analyzing data to provide design risk assessments
  4. Presenting tests, test results, and risk assessments in a confident and positive manner to the cross-functional and leadership teams
  5. Researching new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms
  6. Guiding design and interacting with diverse groups to improve product reliability
  7. Investigating failures during reliability testing to determine root cause and drive mitigations
