Hardware Research Engineer: Meta Robotics Studio

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Redmond, WA

Meta Robotics Studio is seeking a Research Engineer to tackle challenging mechanical/electrical design problems for robotics, balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability, and usability while maintaining safety and quality standards. The role involves concept development, analytical modeling, prototype design, construction, and testing, with potential research into Electro-mechanics, Sensor and Communication, and/or Planning and Control. The engineer will also integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and adhere to ethical AI practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and Development: mechanical and electrical system design and analysis problems for robotics structure, mechanisms, power transmissions, electric components, and systems integration while balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability
  2. Supporting parts manufacture: Working with internal/external partners to support part fabrication and complex custom sub assembly
  3. Assembly of robot: Hands on work in the lab constructing sub-assemblies to full system level robot prototypes
  4. Failure analysis: Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver technical solutions
