Skydio is seeking a Hardware Technician to support rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and lab improvement. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining 3D printers, fabricating parts, performing mechanical assembly, and maintaining lab infrastructure. The role requires hands-on experience with 3D printing, shop tools, and mechanical assembly, with a focus on supporting engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Operate and maintain 3D printers, including troubleshooting and material handling
  2. Support rapid prototyping by fabricating and finishing parts using shop tools and basic fabrication equipment
  3. Perform mechanical assembly, including drone hardware and similar systems
  4. Install, modify, and maintain lab and shop infrastructure such as benches, shelving, and test equipment
  5. Maintain organization and functionality across shared lab spaces

Required

  • 3D printing operation and troubleshooting
  • Shop tools (saws, drill presses, sanders)
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Lab/shop environment setup and improvement
  • Ability to work on feet and move between tasks
  • Proactive task identification and execution
  • General lab operations knowledge

Nice to have

  • Machining tools (manual or CNC mills)
  • Soldering, wiring, or cable harnessing
  • CAD tools (Fusion)
  • FAA Part 107 certification
