This role focuses on hardware testing and validation for Google's computing infrastructure, ensuring reliability of server, networking, and optical platforms. Responsibilities include designing test equipment, developing testing protocols, and collaborating with design engineers. The role involves Linux system administration, hardware assembly, firmware updates, and lab inventory management within an R&D environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform Linux system administrative tasks which will include debugging system and network issues related to lab networks and connectivity to engineering test setups, and configure network switches.
  2. Work with cross-functional teams on set up tasks such as prototype hardware assembly, programming with hardware tools, and installing firmware updates.
  3. Receive and manage hardware components and material for projects and disperse hardware per allocation plan.
  4. Work with teams bringing up new labs and services, including documenting lab bench and rack configurations and prioritizing tasks related to project bring-up.
  5. Manage and organize lab inventory of consumables and equipment while maintaining an organized, clean, and safe operating lab.
