Head of Content Marketing (contract)

The Head of Content Marketing contractor will drive PagerDuty's content strategy and production, translating business and product priorities into high-quality content across various formats and using data to optimize distribution. This role involves owning end-to-end content production, developing and executing content strategy, managing a content calendar, analyzing performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external agencies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own End-to-End Content Production: Write, edit, and manage the production of ebooks, whitepapers, blog posts, thought-leadership articles, and other long-form assets from concept through publication.
  2. Deliver Short-Form & Campaign Copy: Write and edit ad copy, email copy, social copy, and other short-form content in support of always-on and campaign-specific marketing efforts.
  3. Develop and execute a content marketing strategy aligned with business goals, target personas, and the buyer’s journey.
  4. Manage the Content Calendar: Prioritize and sequence content requests against business priorities, keeping stakeholders aligned on timelines and deliverables.
  5. Analyze Content & Syndication Performance: Track and report on how content performs across syndication channels, distilling metrics such as engagement, downloads, and lead quality into clear recommendations.

Skills

Required

  • 5-8+ years of experience in content marketing, preferably in B2B SaaS or technology
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Experience creating content for technical and business audiences
  • Strong understanding on technology topics
  • Willingness to experiment and push the envelope with AI, but also know a human needs to be behind all content
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with SEO, analytics, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, HubSpot)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Creative thinker with a passion for technology and digital transformation

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the PagerDuty platform or the broader DevOps/AIOps/Operations Cloud ecosystem.
  • Experience partnering directly with performance or paid marketing teams on content adaptation for paid channels.
  • A portfolio demonstrating range across long-form thought leadership and punchy, conversion-focused copy.
  • Comfort operating independently as a contractor, managing your own workflow against shifting priorities.
