This role is for a Principal Specialist High-Performance Computing (HPC) System Administrator at RTX in Tucson, AZ. The primary responsibilities include administering a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment, troubleshooting complex technical problems, performing OS tuning for performance, and ensuring security compliance. The role requires an active U.S. government security clearance and specific IT certifications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.
  2. Help develop and implement new technologies based upon industry best practices.
  3. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems at a high scope and complexity to include the integration of High-Performance Computing hardware, software, and operating systems (OS).
  4. Understanding the use of software tools, automated scripts, batch schedulers, hardware, and system-level troubleshooting, to lead and support the engineering community.
  5. Perform OS tuning to maximize system performance on high performance computing systems. Work across DT functions to standardize processes and procedures.

Skills

Required

  • University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance
  • Experience in Windows and/or Linux Server Environments including directory services management, and system hardening.
  • Experience maintaining a medium sized Microsoft Windows Server environment.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with High Performance Computing scheduling and monitoring tools.

Nice to have

  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Experience in project leadership, management, or project management in a DT domain and basic to advance scripting experience.
  • An active DoD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Windows and Unix security hardening, systems integrations, advanced troubleshooting, and authentication service integration (LDAP).
  • Unix (Including Linux and Solaris), experience in a medium to high complex environment(s).
  • Working knowledge of High-Performance Computing scheduling and monitoring tools such as SLURM, Grid Engine and Ganglia.
