New Relic is seeking an HR Generalist in Tokyo to manage HR operations, support the employee lifecycle, and ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws. The role involves performance management, employee relations, and partnering with various People Team functions. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of HR experience in Japan, fluent Japanese and English, and a strong understanding of local labor laws.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partners with HRBP to advise managers and employees on all aspects of the New Relic performance management process both informal and formal.
  2. Conducts ER investigations as a lead and/or support aligned with New Relic’s policies as well as local laws and regulations.
  3. Partners with Talent Acquisition on job leveling, role descriptions, offers and can participate in interview panels when required
  4. Supports compliance of all activities with the Japan Labor Standards Act and internal Work Rules (Shugyo Kisoku), security and integrity of data including personal and confidential information.
  5. Makes it a priority to lean in and understand the goals and strategies of the business so that they factor into our support and outcomes

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator role in Japan
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English (written and verbal)
  • Solid understanding of Japanese labor laws and social insurance systems
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • HR experience within a global SaaS organization
  • Experience using G-Suite, Workday, Culture Amp a plus
  • Experience working in fast paced, highly matrixed organization, across multiple time zones
