This role is for an HRBP in Japan, focusing on organizational design, performance management, talent reviews, and HR compliance. It involves partnering with leaders, ensuring adherence to Japanese labor laws, and managing the employee lifecycle. The role also includes driving the adoption of AI and automation technologies within the People Team processes and enhancing employee experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with and advise leaders regarding organization design, structure, and workforce planning that supports the operational and strategic objectives of the business.
  2. Execute the performance management initiatives, including coaching on goal setting, driving performance review cycles, managing PIPs, all within the globally designed framework, to ensure consistency.
  3. Drives a high performing organization through facilitation of talent reviews, identifying critical roles in the organization and succession planning aligned with the Talent Development Strategy.
  4. Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws, regulations, health and safety requirements, and company policies by providing guidance to managers and employees, maintaining required HR documentation, and administering statutory processes, and supporting labor audits and reporting obligations.
  5. Partner with the HR Operations team and other key stakeholders to proactively learn and drive the adoption of AI and automation technologies, while leading continuous improvement and transformation of People Team processes and employee experience in Japan.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in HR function.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Highly skilled at engaging and influencing others, with strong change management skills
  • The ability to develop and implement clear, actionable plans
  • Capability to identify new ways for the People Experience team to support the business strategy
  • Excellent client focus with the ability to build good relationships across borders.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across the organization at all levels.
  • Significant experience of working with and influencing leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of HR trends, leading HR practice and talent management practices.
  • Experience supporting HR compliance, employee relations, and labor risk management in Japan.
  • Experience working in a multinational and matrixed environment.
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English.
