Sam’s Club is our membership warehouse club, the business model that offers our members quality products at an exceptional value unmatched by traditional retail.
We are looking for Software Engineer to join our Merchandising Catalog team at Sam’s Walmart Labs. Catalog provides an omni and near-real time view of item, price, location and inventory data for all enterprise consumers, allows enrichment and modification of all attributes. A comprehensive UI and backend platform designed to simplify product information management. It offers an intuitive interface for merchants and non-technical users to manually enter and manage product data, while also acting as an orchestrator for multiple backend services to ensure data consistency and system integration.
This is the team that ensures accurate visibility of Sams catalog data of the whole journey. Build reusable Platform products and serve Sams catalog data for customers and whole of supply chain process.
What You’ll Do
As a Software Engineer III at SamClub, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and building robust backend systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of customers. You will work across multiple domains, contributing to the development of scalable services that are critical to Sams digital platforms.
· Develop, test, and deploy high-quality Java backend applications that processed millions of events on daily basis.
· Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless mobile experiences.
· Drive technical discussions, provide recommendations on solution design, and ensure alignment with Walmart’s engineering standards.
· Write clean, modular, and testable code with a strong emphasis on maintainability and performance.
· Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize mobile applications to ensure robust and responsive user experiences.
· Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement of team practices.
· Support integration of mobile solutions with microservices, APIs, and backend systems.
What You’ll bring
· Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and 3+ yrs. of working experience in software development.
· 3 - 6 years of experience with Java (Spring boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, EhCache, micrometre) in building multi-threaded high performance scalable applications.
· Good knowledge on Karate framework, API proxy, and App2App Authentication.
· Very strong understanding of various cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS or GCP.
· Experience with design and programming across one or more platforms, languages and frameworks (Java/Python, Spring, Springboot, Microservice), data structure fundamentals and relational/NoSQL databases, Cloud Computing, Linux system and networks
· Must have good knowledge of big data tools like GCP Big Query/ Azure Data Bricks.
· Hands on in Architecting and developing large scale distributed application which is multi-tenant and multi modal.
· 3 or more yrs. of experience with SQL such as MSSQL, GCP MySQL or NoSQL like Cassandra, Azure Cosmos.
· Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and data stores
· Strong experience in distributed tracing tools and logging systems like Splunk
· Experience in Real time applications, Transactional Systems, Encryption.
· Strong expertise in REST, Messaging (KAFKA, azure event hub), stream processing (SPARK, STORM etc).
· Familiar with AGILE methodologies, understanding of AI and ML is a plus and data pipelines is a plus.
· Candidate having experience with GenAI, Data interpretation and Data visualization would be preferred.

Sam’s club is a membership-based retail warehouse club owned and operated by Walmart. With more than 600 physical clubs across different geographic region in US, Sam’s Club chain serves more than 50 million US members and is rated among the top retailers in US.
What you'll do:
- You will work closely with Business and development team to understand the requirements, design, architecture and develop software, working closely with senior leads and business team.
- Join our young, highly energetic and dynamic team, and take part in defining the new age e-commerce and in club shopping experience. You will also have challenging opportunities to cross-collaborate with inter- disciplinary product and engineering teams to solve some of the unique challenges.
- Your Responsibility
- • As a member of the team you will be expected to code, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
- • Collaborate with senior members of the team to gather requirements, participate in design discussion, code, test and deploy the products to production
- • Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.

What you'll bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with 3 to 6 years of core software product development experience. • Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, databases, operating systems, etc. • Hands on in developing web applications using REST, Messaging and SOA • 3 or more years of experience with Java, Databases (SQL, No-SQL), developing APIs. • Experience with Cloud Computing platforms: Microsoft Azure, Google cloud or similar is a plus • A self-motivated learner and builder with strong customer focus and obsession to quality • Experience with dev-ops is a plus (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
