Indirect Tax Analyst

This role is for an Indirect Tax Analyst responsible for US state and local sales and use tax, and global VAT/GST tax research, compliance, and reporting. It involves maintaining compliance calendars, processing payments, reconciling accounts, responding to tax notices and audits, and assisting with tax engine maintenance and special projects.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain annual tax compliance calendar to ensure all tax filing deadlines are met
  2. Assist in extraction and preparation of monthly indirect tax compliance data for US and global jurisdictions for delivery to outsourced compliance providers
  3. Process indirect tax payments and prepare and post required indirect tax journal entries
  4. Prepare and reconcile quarterly account reconciliations
  5. Research and draft responses to tax notices from various tax jurisdictions

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, with emphasis in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of indirect tax and / or accounting firm experience with experience in domestic or international indirect tax
  • Experience with Excel
  • Excellent tax research, analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate cross-functionally to tax and non-tax professionals

Nice to have

  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to expand tax technical skills
  • Public company multinational corporation experience or public accounting firm experience (i.e., Big 4)
  • Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting and/or CPA
  • Advanced technology experience with RPA or ETL tools (e.g.Alteryx, Tableau, UIPath, OracleBI)
  • Experience with tax engines (e.g. Avalara, Vertex, OneSource)
  • Experience with ERPs (e.g. Oracle, SAP)
