Indirect Tax Manager

This role is for an Indirect Tax Manager at Legora, a company that provides an AI-native workspace for legal professionals. The manager will oversee VAT/GST compliance, advise on tax implications of international growth and new products, and integrate AI advancements into finance systems. The role requires expertise in EU VAT principles and experience in a technology/scale-up environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversee and ensure the integrity of VAT/GST compliance processes across multiple EU and non-EU jurisdictions, partnering with internal and external stakeholders
  2. Maintain audit-ready documentation and high-quality, defensible VAT records
  3. Serve as a primary advisor on VAT consequences for international growth, market entries, new product launches, and corporate reorganizations. Take the lead in evaluating VAT considerations for digital services, intercompany dealings, and intricate transaction flows.
  4. Drive the evolution of our finance systems by proactively integrating advancements in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
  5. Work across Finance, Legal, Product, and Commercial departments to integrate VAT considerations into standard operational workflows.

Skills

Required

  • 5-8 years of progressive professional experience in VAT or indirect tax
  • Experience from a technology and/or scale-up start-up environment
  • Experience in a multinational environment, either in-house or at a leading accounting firm
  • Strong expertise in EU VAT principles; including cross-border supplies and complex transaction flows
  • Good working knowledge of Swedish VAT is required.
  • Proven experience with VAT compliance, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • General good knowledge of accounting
  • Strong understanding of group structures and cross-border business models.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex VAT-related projects in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Experience with modern indirect tax engines

Nice to have

  • exposure to non-EU VAT regimes is an advantage.
