Ford is seeking an Industrial Designer for their Physical Interaction design team to develop conceptual and production-based interior solutions for vehicles. The role involves creating innovative interior design experiences, exploring human-centered design, and collaborating with other designers to achieve holistic design visions. The designer will work on advanced and production interior projects, spanning digital and physical thinking, and problem-solving around connectivity and mobility.

What you'd actually do

  1. Create compelling and innovative interior design experiences and visions for Design Projects.
  2. Explore Human Centered Design experience with emphasis in Interior Design holistic experience.
  3. Coordinate the work of other design personnel to achieve holistic design visions.
  4. Create future brand focused design visions.
  5. Span digital and physical (software and hardware) thinking.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Transportation Design, or similar field of study or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 1+ years’ Design experience; including experience with final design product execution.
  • 1+ years of experience translating 2D to 3D and think three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of form also required.

  • Product design or interior design experience.
  • Understanding of exterior/interior manufacturing process and materials.

  • Experience of working in large, corporate environments is good but not a necessity.
  • Ability to interpret customer needs and global trends into compelling design.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.
  • Awareness of global automotive and consumer electronics to ensure Ford competes with the best in the industry.
  • Demonstrated creative product/interior design perceptions and capability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Familiarizes self and maintains interest with design trends within and across design professions and global cultures (automotive, fashion, product, architectural, etc.)
  • Outstanding teamwork, leadership, visual, written, and verbal communication skills
