This role focuses on industrial design for robotics solutions in Amazon's last-mile delivery network. The Industrial Designer III will collaborate with product and engineering teams to drive customer requirements, identify automation opportunities, author business cases for automation, define pilot criteria, and contribute to the design of future delivery stations integrating robotics, automation, IoT, and machine learning. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, five years of experience in industrial occupation, and one year of experience in automation, robotics, manufacturing environments, project management, and full project lifecycle experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the last mile network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  2. Identify process paths to automate based on various factors; labor, cost, safety, performance, etc.
  3. Author business cases to introduce automation to the Delivery Stations network in NA to improve productivity.
  4. Define pilot criteria and success metrics to validate prototype units.
  5. Contribute to design the Delivery Station of the future combining Robotics, Automation, IoT and Machine Learning disciplines.
