Industrial Engineer, Production Controls & Simulation

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Manufacturing : Heavy Metal - Production : Manufacturing Engineering

This role focuses on developing and maintaining discrete event simulation models and critical chain schedules for an AI-driven factory in the defense industry. The engineer will use simulation tools to optimize production planning, identify bottlenecks, and automate processes using scripting. While the company utilizes AI and advanced technologies, the core function of this role is industrial engineering and production optimization, not direct AI/ML model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and maintain discrete event simulation (DES) models of maritime manufacturing processes to support production planning and facility layout decisions
  2. Build and operate critical chain project management models to drive production scheduling and resource leveling
  3. Write scripts and build technology-driven workflows to automate production control tasks and streamline planning processes
  4. Collaborate with manufacturing technology teams to validate simulation assumptions against physical reality and implement process improvements
  5. Provide data-driven analysis to support capital equipment investments, make-vs-buy decisions, and capacity planning
