Industrial Painter (3rd Shift)

Industrial Painter responsible for preparing materials, applying prime and topcoat paint to components and machinery to achieve a high-quality finish. Requires experience in equipment/automotive paint processing, booth/spray paint process, or a related certificate/degree. Top candidates will have experience with Caterpillar Paving Painting, knowledge of paint properties and standards, blueprint reading, and Lean Manufacturing Principles.

What you'd actually do

  1. Prepare materials prior to paint application, apply prime paint and topcoat (finish coat) to components and machinery to obtain a high-quality finish consistent with company standards.
  2. Sand, mask, wash, paint and touch-up components and machines according to blueprint and engineering drawings
  3. Electronically and manually maintain documentation for labor hour records, work order processing, and production documentation (Serial Number reporting, Material Transfer records, Defective Materials reports, etc.).
  4. Perform activities related to hazardous waste handling
  5. Prioritize work to meet production schedules.

Skills

Required

  • Experience in equipment/automotive paint processing, booth/spray paint process, or a paint related certificate or certified trade school/technical degree in paint related field
  • Experience in top coat, prime coat and electrostatic paint or similar process

Nice to have

  • Previous Caterpillar Paving Painting experiences
  • Knowledge of paint properties
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar standards for paint quality (1E 2001 specs for paint)
  • Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawings
  • Leadership experience
  • Heavy crane equipment experience
  • Ability to read standard work and write continuous improvement cards
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Ability to utilize computer for production transactions, standard work updates and various projects
  • Experience using paint tools including cup paint gun, sanders and buffers.
