Information Architect (mission Training)

This role focuses on organizing, structuring, and clarifying complex technical content for mission training programs, working closely with instructional designers and subject matter experts to translate engineering information into clear learning structures. The goal is to enhance usability, comprehension, and operational performance within training materials.

What you'd actually do

  1. Organize complex system information into clear, logical learning pathways.
  2. Develop content outlines, structural templates, and standardized naming conventions.
  3. Create and maintain content hierarchies for training modules, system documentation, and performance support materials.
  4. Support version control and content updates as systems evolve.
  5. Develop taxonomies, content models, and metadata frameworks for training assets.

Skills

Required

  • Organize and structure complex technical information
  • Support instructional design projects or learning programs
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and performance-based training
  • Proficiency with diagramming or visual modeling tools (Lucidchart, Miro, Visio, Figma, etc.)

Nice to have

  • Experience working with technical SMEs in engineering, defense, aerospace, maritime, or related industries
  • Experience with LMS platforms and digital learning tools
  • Experience in DoD or defense-adjacent environments
  • Background in UX, human factors, or systems engineering
  • Experience supporting simulation-based or technical systems training

What the JD emphasized

  • 3–6 years of experience in information architecture, instructional design, technical writing, UX, or related field.
  • Experience working with technical SMEs in engineering, defense, aerospace, maritime, or related industries preferred.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and digital learning tools preferred.
  • Experience in DoD or defense-adjacent environments.
