Johnson & Johnson Vision is seeking a Materials Engineer in Anasco, PR, to lead raw material and molding projects for inter-ocular lenses. The role involves managing multi-functional teams, ensuring project completion within time and budget, and driving business continuity, validations, cost improvements, and supplier innovation. Responsibilities include characterization, qualification, risk assessment, and developing project plans. The engineer will also identify and execute value improvement projects with suppliers, focusing on cost-effective manufacturing solutions and technical direction for supplier changes. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field is required, with preferred experience in FDA-regulated environments, micro-molding, and supplier collaboration.

What you'd actually do

  1. Accountable for molding/resin characterizations/qualifications, developing/updating the appropriate specifications and supporting regulatory submission documentation/inquires.
  2. Conducting risk assessments and leading detailed product / process design reviews
  3. Develop project and qualification plans to lead projects to meet timelines and budgets
  4. Apply appropriate statistical and validation techniques based on overall risk
  5. Responsible for identifying, coordinating, planning, executing, and evaluating value improvement projects at key, strategic materials suppliers to ensure quality, and on-time delivery.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent engineering
  • Fluent English
