Boeing is seeking an Inspector specializing in Magnetic Particle and Penetrant methods to join their Fabrication team in Auburn, Washington. This role is integral to quality assurance processes, ensuring the integrity and reliability of critical components through advanced inspection techniques. Responsibilities include operating inspection equipment, interpreting results, collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting findings, performing audits, and ensuring compliance with specifications and procedures. The role requires a Level II ASNT certification or equivalent training/experience in Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant inspection, with a focus on NDI/NDT experience. The position is 100% onsite and requires US Person status for export control compliance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Set up, adjust, and operate magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment, inspecting and interpreting results to accept or reject articles based on established standards.
  2. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement improvements in build processes and defect reduction initiatives.
  3. Compile and maintain reports on magnetic particle and penetrant inspection results, documenting any nonconforming materials or processes.
  4. Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.
  5. Analyze inspection requirements and coordinate work schedules and resources to optimize efficiency.

Skills

Required

  • Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Certification OR equivalent on the job training hours completed for a Level II American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification.
  • NDI (non-destructive inspection) or NDT (non-destructive test) experience.
  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
