Instructional Designer

Superhuman Superhuman · Consumer · United States · Remote · Managed

This role is for an Instructional Designer at Superhuman, an AI productivity platform. The primary focus is on designing and establishing the pedagogical foundation for customer education across various modalities, including in-product education, to help users learn and leverage Superhuman's AI products. The role involves partnering with Product and Engineering to embed learning experiences within AI products and defining quality standards for educational content.

What you'd actually do

  1. Establish Superhuman's pedagogical foundation: the principles, design patterns, and evaluation rubrics that define what "good" looks like across modalities, so the team can experiment and ship with conviction
  2. Partner with Growth, Product, and Engineering to leverage our Academy resources and design learning experiences across our products
  3. Work with subject matter experts, UXR, Customer Success, and Support to identify the knowledge gaps and learning outcomes that matter most, and translate them into curriculum that makes the learning stick
  4. Set and uphold quality standards across academy courses, guides, videos, and live sessions and build the review process that keeps them high as the team scales
  5. Shape the strategy for interactive learning features (assessments, credentialing, adaptive paths) as the program matures, including how we measure whether customers are actually learning

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years designing learning experiences for adult learners across multiple modalities (eLearning, in-product education, live instruction, and video) at a company scaling its education function
  • Deep grounding in learning science and adult learning theory
  • Fluent in instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, or similar)
  • A track record of defining quality standards, rubrics, or evaluation frameworks that other people could apply consistently
  • Collaborated on learning experiences embedded inside a product alongside Product, Engineering, and Design, not only standalone courses outside the product surface
  • Use AI tools daily to accelerate your own craft (research, drafting, prototyping, evaluation) and have a point of view on how AI is changing the way adults learn software
  • Comfortable with data: pull from product usage, research, and CS signals to identify learning gaps, and measure learning outcomes rather than engagement vanity metrics
  • Can take complex subject matter (including technical AI product capabilities) and make it clear, engaging, and durable in memory
  • Experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS or AI company with rapid product cycles and a steady stream of net-new products.
  • Thrive as a function-of-one: you're energized by defining the role as you go, building the systems, and setting the bar rather than inheriting a mature playbook
  • Has a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manages tasks and priorities across multiple projects, analyzes and executes work efficiently, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
