State Farm is seeking an Insurance Defense Trial Attorney to join their growing Jacksonville Claim Litigation office. The role involves handling a caseload from inception to conclusion, participating in litigation events, and meeting with clients. Attorneys will strategize on trial and case development, and the position is classified as hybrid.

What you'd actually do

  1. Handle litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department
  2. Prepare and summarize reports for proceedings
  3. Trial strategy and case development
  4. Attend litigation events including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearings

Skills

Required

  • J.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, with excellent academic credentials
  • Active law license to practice in the state of Florida and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Florida
  • 2+ year of civil courtroom/trial experience handling automobile injury lawsuits
  • Jury trial, mediation, deposition experience
  • File ownership
  • Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Ability to work efficiently with cases in electronic form
  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
  • Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system

Nice to have

  • Personal injury, workers compensation, and medical malpractice experience
  • Criminal jury trial experience

What the JD emphasized

  • 2+ year of civil courtroom/trial experience handling automobile injury lawsuits is strongly preferred
