Intern, Strategy Analyst - Summer 2027

Capital One Capital One · Banking · Toronto, ON

This is an intern role focused on strategy analysis within Capital One Canada. Responsibilities include analyzing fraud trends, developing customer benefit frameworks for card products, and building challenger models for spending prediction. The role emphasizes analytical and problem-solving skills, with preferred qualifications in business, economics, engineering, or related quantitative fields. While the company uses AI in recruitment, this specific role is not directly building or deploying AI models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyzing trends in fraudulent credit card applications and transactions in order to enhance our suite of models and tools. The goal: reduce fraud costs and minimize negative experiences for our cardholders.
  2. Developing a framework through which customers may benefit from having a different card than the one they currently have. The goal: enhancing the overall value provided to the customer while being mindful of the additional costs and credit risk associated with different products.
  3. Building a challenger model to an existing model that predicts how much customers are likely to spend on their credit cards. The goal: understanding if a simpler model could capture enough of the business value to justify retiring the complex model.
