International Trade Compliance Manager

This role is for an International Trade Compliance Manager to support dual-use Defense and Commercial business lines. The individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing controls to comply with U.S. and international export control regulations, working cross-functionally with various teams. The company sells products subject to ITAR and EAR to commercial clients, the U.S. military, and its allies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage the company’s Trade Compliance Policy and Technology Control Plans
  2. Manage Restricted Party Screening processes
  3. Make export jurisdiction and classification determinations
  4. Lead trade compliance training across the company
  5. Provide strategic advice to Product, Business Development, and Engineering teams throughout the product development, sales, and project delivery lifecycle

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience working on international trade controls
  • Experience working on international trade controls at a company that sells software and/or hardware to military customers or automotive industry OEMs
  • Experience designing and implementing compliance policies
  • Experience with HTS classification and import entry review, including oversight of work performed by customs brokers and freight forwarders for cross-border shipments
  • Expertise in U.S. export controls (e.g., ITAR, EAR)
  • Familiarity with global sanctions regimes, including in the U.S. and UK
  • Familiarity with licensing and compliance IT systems (e.g., DECCS, SNAP-R, OCR)
  • Familiarity with U.S. import duty regimes (e.g., Section 301)
  • Self-starter mentality, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth company environment
  • An active U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with import/export customs procedures (e.g., CBP forms) and coordinating with freight forwarders
  • Familiarity with international trade controls applicable to operations in the UK, Europe, and/or APAC
  • Experience in the aerospace or automotive industry
  • Experience at a large defense contractor, dual-use technology company, or at a consulting firm that services such companies
