Inventory Analyst

Inventory Analyst role focused on managing and analyzing engineering drawing notices (EDNs) for NPI, CPI, and product updates. Responsibilities include analyzing EDNs for quality, determining serviceability levels, creating master parts records, and establishing worldwide inventory levels based on distribution plans, sales forecasts, and product knowledge. The role involves managing up to $5M in inventory, processing EDNs and NPIs, and submitting changes to parts records. It also requires partnering with Global Purchasing and Supply teams, resolving issues with internal/external partners, and contributing to IT tool development and Six Sigma initiatives for process improvement. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, science, or commerce, with experience in Caterpillar Aftermarket, parts product structure, global purchasing, and distribution practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Microsoft 365 skills are essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage and analyze engineering drawing notices (EDNs) released for NPI, CPI, and major product updates prior to target release date.
  2. Analyze engineering drawing notices for quality, completeness, and resolve issues with engineering.
  3. Utilize systems, product knowledge, and EDN information to determine application/product specific serviceability levels.
  4. Create master parts records, validate critical part description indicators, issue cancellations and Supersessions, and submit changes to Numerical Parts Record (NPR).
  5. Establish initial worldwide inventory levels by analyzing distribution plans, sales and forecast information, product knowledge, and product group information.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / Math's / Science / Commerce
  • Experience with strong Caterpillar Aftermarket experience preferably with parts product structure, global purchasing, expediting and distribution practices
  • Should possess good product knowledge, familiarity with parts inventory procedure, practices and policies
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft 360 and similar tools
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer focus and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Must be willing to work in US shift timing to have enough overlap with Morton team.

Nice to have

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP National Certification
