The Investigator, People Relations role at Warner Bros. Discovery is responsible for conducting objective and thorough investigations into claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other policy violations. The role involves working with a global team, conducting investigations for employees in India and APAC, and potentially other regions. Key responsibilities include identifying trends, making recommendations for improvement, and collaborating with legal, HR, and other stakeholders. The role requires strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on integrity and confidentiality.

What you'd actually do

  1. Personally conduct employment investigations involving employees across all business units.
  2. Take an active role in outsourced investigations.
  3. Localize the domestic investigation process and adopt PR’s values and initiatives.
  4. Identify trends related to claims and make recommendations to address issues identified--these may include partnership with the DEI team, training opportunities, culture enhancements, or changes to disciplinary action protocols.
  5. Forge trusted relationships with the Employment attorneys, local People & Culture Partners, Security, and other global key stakeholders to resolve complex employment issues.

Skills

Required

  • 8-12 years of experience conducting employment related investigations
  • Demonstrated progressive Human Resources management or employment law experience
  • Operative knowledge of Human Resources policies, practices, and procedures
  • Operative knowledge of local laws governing employment issues
  • Ability to handle multiple investigations and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to research and analyze data and findings
  • Ability to be tactful yet assertive when addressing employment issues and concerns
  • Ability to utilize diplomacy, assertiveness, and adaptability attributes in dealing with senior executives throughout the organization
  • Ability to handle difficult/highly emotional personalities
  • Ability to exercise keen judgment when analyzing and resolving employment issues
  • Ability to uphold the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ability to capture accurate and detailed notes quickly

Nice to have

  • Entertainment or Technology industry experience desirable
  • JD or other applicable graduate degree preferred
  • HR Business Partners with experience in investigations or professionals from People/Talent Relations backgrounds only.
  • Candidates with a purely legal (law-only) background, without hands-on HR or employee relations experience, may not be an ideal fit for this role.

What the JD emphasized

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel including attorneys and business unit executives
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian labor laws is essential.
