Iron Technician I (2nd Shift)

This role is for an Iron Technician I at Caterpillar's SPM Oil & Gas division, responsible for the assembly and testing of mechanical components. The job involves processing incoming iron, cleaning, inspecting, and assembling flow control products, with opportunities for training in NDT and manifold rebuilds. It requires basic mechanical skills, computer literacy for inventory systems, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment. The role is focused on industrial mechanical operations, not AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Process incoming iron starts to finish. Able to accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, perform quality check, and manage inventory (without supervision)
  2. Assists Iron Technicians during the disassembling phase
  3. Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components
  4. Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections
  5. Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Skills

Required

  • Ability to operate hand tools such as hammers and screw drivers
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
  • Computer skills for the SPM AMP System
  • Ability to identify SPM and Customer product
