Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT Analyst Applications (BI/Data Modelling Engineer) to join** Applications Development & Intelligence Automation -CAT IT Division**
The Business Intelligence and AI team at Caterpillar Financial Services is on a mission to make enterprise data easy to find and easy to use.
We’re looking for a BI/Data Modeling Engineer who’s passionate about putting data into the hands of our customers. In this role, you’ll deliver high-impact semantic models and reports that empower business users to make data-driven decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are intuitive, performant, and aligned with business needs.
You’ll work with tools like Power BI and Snowflake to build scalable, intuitive data solutions that support hundreds of users across finance, operations, and customer experience.

What you will do
- Deliver data, semantic models, and reports in Snowflake, Power BI, and Sigma tailored to business customer needs
- Assist in preparing technical and procedural documentation required in application system development
- Provide detailed flowcharts to show processing logic for simple application programs
- Follow team standards and practices to ensure high-quality and sustainable deliverables
- Testing and ensuring quality deliverables
- Engage directly with users to address questions and support training, testing, and feedback loops to improve deliverables
** What you will have **
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.
- Expertise in dimensional modeling, semantic layer design, and data architecture
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, and BI tools (Power BI preferred)
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable data models
- Understanding of data governance, performance optimization, and metadata management
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Innovative mindset with a passion for enabling self-service analytics
- This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the office.

Level Working Knowledge: • Follows policies, practices and standards for determining functional and informational requirements. • Confirms deliverables associated with requirements analysis. • Communicates with customers and users to elicit and gather client requirements. • Participates in the preparation of detailed documentation and requirements. • Utilizes specific organizational methods, tools and techniques for requirements analysis.
**System and Technology Integration: **Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms. Level Working Knowledge: • Assists with current and planned integration initiatives. • Explores major issues and considerations for successful system integration. • Works with applications, data, technology bridges and a variety of platforms. • Works with existing interfaces as well as integration and migration plans within own area. • Plays an active role in local integration efforts.
**System Testing: **Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle. Level Working Knowledge: • Supports the project leader in developing and executing system test plans. • Evaluates system documentation and user manuals for usability, accuracy and completeness. • Executes test cases, analyzes test results and reports on findings regularly. • Tests system components for compliance with functional requirements. • Participates in the testing of a system's ability to recover from hardware or software failures.
