It Software Asset Management Lead

Uber Uber · Consumer · Amsterdam, Netherlands · Product

This role focuses on IT Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) within Uber's IT Supply Chain Operations. The Lead will manage enterprise application licensing, track software usage, optimize hardware inventory, and oversee the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process. Responsibilities include vendor invoice reconciliation, managing software and hardware lifecycles, analyzing operational data, and leading cross-functional projects to optimize IT spend and ensure compliance. This is not an AI/ML development role, but rather an operational and engineering role within an enterprise IT context.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage the operational mechanics of enterprise application licensing, including tracking usage, identifying cost gaps, raising Purchase Orders (POs), and validating vendor invoices to ensure continuous service.
  2. Conduct regular audits of software consumption to identify "shelfware," aggressively reclaiming inactive licenses and ensuring our licensing tiers match actual business needs.
  3. Monitor budget burn rates for consumption-based SaaS tools and hardware stock, proactively submitting PO change orders to prevent service outages or deployment delays.
  4. Reconcile complex invoice discrepancies by collaborating directly with vendors, Accounts Payable, and internal stakeholders to resolve billing exceptions quickly.
  5. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of corporate IT hardware assets, ensuring accurate tracking from procurement and deployment through maintenance and secure decommission.
