The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and integrating complex systems at every stage of their lifecycle. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation with an eye toward accessibility, optimization, and security, within the infrastructure. The role involves installing and configuring operating systems, software, and hardware components, and optimizing hosts and servers for high availability. It also includes researching and recommending automated approaches for system engineering tasks.

What you'd actually do

  1. Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and clearly document the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff
  2. Use expert-level configuration, administration and optimization of hosts and servers to ensure high availability of infrastructure and systems
  3. Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  4. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system engineering tasks

Skills

Required

  • Linux and Windows architect experience
  • Virtualization expertise (vSphere, ESXi, Hyper-V)
  • Azure and Office 365 Tenant administration
  • Storage Services and Platforms (e.g. Dell PowerStore, PowerVault)
  • CompTIA Security+ Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accepted and accredited college or university with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Four (4) years of system engineering experience or minimum seven (7) in a senior system administrator role
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Operating system administration (e.g. RHEL, Windows Server)
  • Configuration and administration of endpoint solutions (e.g. SCCM, Intune, SolarWinds, ServiceNow)
  • Azure/O365 Online App experience (e.g SharePoint, PowerBi, PowerAutomate)
  • Domain management expertise (e.g. AD, SSO, PKI, GPO, DHCP)
  • Automation and Scripting experience (e.g Powershell, Python, Ansible)
