Journeyman Automotive Technician

Journeyman Automotive Technician needed to maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers with diesel and gasoline propulsion systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls, meeting D.O.T requirements, and operating various tools and transmissions. Requires extensive hands-on automotive mechanical experience, diagnostic equipment usage, and advanced electrical diagnostic capabilities. Preferred Class A/B or A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

What you'd actually do

  1. Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
  2. Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday
  3. Sits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday
  4. Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  5. Operates standard and manual transmission
  6. Operates power and pneumatic tools

Skills

Required

  • Demonstrated extensive hands-on automotive mechanical experience.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer.
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required
  • Works in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
  • Communicates effectively through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
  • Advanced electrical diagnostic capabilities with strong working knowledge of brake systems, aftertreatment systems, and diesel-powered engines.

  • Must be willing to work night shift (5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m.), Monday through Friday.
