Journeyman Mechanic

Seeking a Journeyman Mechanic (Automotive Technician) for UPS's fleet maintenance team. Responsibilities include maintaining delivery vehicles, heavy-duty tractors, and trailers with various propulsion systems (diesel, gasoline, alternative technologies). Requires troubleshooting and maintenance of hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls. Must be willing to work various shifts and possess required hand tools. Experience with diagnostic equipment and scan tools is preferred. State Certified Inspection License is required within 90 days.

What you'd actually do

  1. Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
  2. Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday
  3. Sits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday
  4. Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  5. Operates standard and manual transmission
  6. Operates power and pneumatic tools

Skills

Required

  • active driver’s license
  • willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts
  • possess the required hand tools
  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime

Nice to have

  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
  • Possesses full complement of personal hand tools
  • willing to obtain State Certified Inspection License within 90 days of employment.
