Junior Structural Packaging Designer - Taiwan

Verkada is seeking a Junior Structural Packaging Designer to develop packaging solutions for their AI-powered physical security products. The role involves influencing brand language, collaborating with design and engineering teams, and ensuring product protection and premium customer experiences from concept to mass production. Responsibilities include designing packaging systems, supporting graphic creation, conducting press checks, and collaborating with international vendors. Requirements include a portfolio, relevant degree, 1-3 years of experience in electronic product packaging, proficiency in design tools, and strong communication skills. Experience with reliability testing (ISTA) and quality assurance is also required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Influence the visual and physical language of our brand through the design, engineering, quality assurance and out-of-box-experience of our packaging.
  2. Utilize user-centric thinking and keen aesthetic sensibility to align our brand to customer needs.
  3. Work collaboratively with design, engineering, manufacturing partners, and operations on complex technical programs in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Drive and influence the development of Verkada packaging sustainability initiatives.
  5. Conceive elegant, effective ways to address manufacturing & structural packaging challenges.

Skills

Required

  • Website or digital portfolio containing case studies in mass-produced packaging solutions or systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience developing consumer or enterprise electronic product packaging solutions
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D structural packaging design tools such as Solidworks, Creo, ArtiosCAD, Keyshot, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective at collaborating across global teams in both the US (PST) and SE Asia time zones
  • Strong communication and project management skills to work directly with packaging vendors and JDM/OEM partners in navigating tight schedules for multiple packaging projects
  • Ability to identify new packaging processes to improve efficiencies and reduce costs
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing methods, processes, and ecological impact of various substrates such as corrugated structures, molded fibers, PCR plastics, and printing techniques
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
  • Experience with reliability testing (ISTA) & quality assurance

  • Experience in business-to-business (B2B) transaction models, product trials, and refurbishment procedures
  • Previous experience or desire to learn on-site press checks to review printed material for quality, accuracy, and color balance
