Kinematics Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer - Level 2 or 3

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Colorado Springs, CO +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

This role involves developing and delivering high-fidelity threat modeling products for missile defense simulations. The engineer will generate kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories, acting as a threat targeteer and weaponeer to assign missiles and warheads for specific scenarios. The data is used by customers to analyze missile defense system performance. Requires a Secret security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. The Kinematic Systems Engineer is responsible for working with a group of engineers that generates the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TSE.
  2. The Kinematic Systems Engineer functions as the threat targeteer and from the adversary’s perspective assigns a missile from that country’s Order of Battle against specific targets, and then functions as the threat weaponeer, assigning a specific warhead to each missile used in the attack to achieve the scenario’s training or engineering objective.
  3. The Kinematic Systems Engineer processes results in an end-to-end threat attack laydown file that is modeled by the TSE, providing the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories.
  4. The Kinematic Systems Engineer will help review customer scenario requests and provide feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins.
  5. This position is responsible for generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC’s Threat Modeling & Simulation Suite (TMSS) and trouble-shooting products and data.
