The Mission
Island is looking for a Lab Engineer to own and evolve our internal lab infrastructure and help R&D, QA, and Escalation teams reproduce real-world customer scenarios. You'll be the go-to person for turning "it broke at the customer" into a reproducible setup in our lab.
** What You’ll Do Day-to-Day**
Lab Infrastructure (Mirage Lab & Physical Devices)
Own and maintain Island's Virtual Lab platform and physical device lab, including provisioning, lifecycle management, and availability
Manage hybrid lab infrastructure spanning physical hardware, virtual machines, and cloud-based environments
Ensure lab environments are reliable, up-to-date, and ready for on-demand use by engineering teams
Continuously improve lab tooling, automation, and self-service capabilities
Environment Setup & Field Issue Simulation
Partner with R&D, QA, and Escalation teams to build environments that replicate complex customer setups
Reproduce edge cases and field issues by simulating enterprise configurations (identity providers, security stacks, network topologies, VDI, MDM)
Serve as the bridge between customer-reported issues and engineering, translating real-world conditions into actionable lab reproductions
Support investigation of OS-level and infrastructure-level issues across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android
