Figure AI is seeking a Facilities Lab Technician to ensure the continuous operation, maintenance, and safety of their laboratory environments, supporting uninterrupted robot research. This role involves technical operations, maintenance of lab equipment and utilities, safety and compliance management, and lab logistics, requiring familiarity with regulated environments and technical documentation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment
  2. Monitor and maintain critical utilities , compressed air, Chilled water, and specialty gas manifolds. (Argon/Nitrogen)
  3. Oversee HVAC performance, ensuring proper air change rates, pressure differentials, and temperature/humidity control.
  4. Serve as a point of contact for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols.
  5. Manage the layout and installation of new lab equipment, ensuring proper power and utility hookups.

Skills

Required

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field (Electronics, Mechanical Systems) or a Life Science degree with strong mechanical aptitude
  • 2–5 years in a laboratory, clinical, or highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP (Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practices)
  • Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and electrical schematics
  • Experience using CMMS software (e.g., Blue Mountain, Maintenance Connection)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or around hazardous materials (with proper PPE)
  • Proactive approach to identifying potential failures before they happen
  • Ability to explain technical and mechanical issues to non-technical scientific staff
  • Willingness to participate in an "on-call" rotation for emergency facility alarms
